Olá, I'm Sandra Westein

I am an online business & social media manager, color coach and workation expert. My mission is to help entrepreneurs optimize their growth and improve their work/life balance. If you ask me, there's no better way to do that than with a little sun, sea and... work.

That's why I launched Ferragudo Dreams in March 2022. Why torture yourself with gray skies and a musty office space when you can instead sit in a cozy Portuguese village with a nice drink while you work?

I have been coming to Ferragudo for years and have built an extensive network as a result. I know all the best spots, the tastiest restaurants and the best activities. If you are looking for inspiration or focus, I promise those will come naturally once you are here. Maybe not right away, but it will happen quickly because of the sun, drinks on the terrace and the interesting people (and entrepreneurs) you meet.

Because if you ask me, there is nothing better than working while overlooking the sea!

And the best part is that you can not only work here, but also live here! Who wouldn't want to spend half the year in a sunny paradise? I certainly do!

Are you also ready for a little sun and work fun? I am here to advise and help you plan your own workation.

Ferragudo - Magic in Algarve

Ferragudo is an enchanting and picturesque Portuguese fishing village located on the eastern bank of the Rio Arade. This village has everything for an unforgettable experience. Tourism has not diminished the authentic and rich social atmosphere of the approximately 2,000 inhabitants here; on the contrary, it buzzes with conviviality in this characteristic fishing village.

In "the little square" you will find a wide range of cozy restaurants and terraces, where tourists and locals enjoy side by side the best delicacies and drinks, such as "galao," "bica," "imperial" and "vinho verde.” Walking along the river, you will come across the famous seafood restaurants, where you can taste the freshest fish of the day. You can even choose your own fish, which will then end up on your plate. Don't forget to explore the streets outside the square, where you will discover hidden gems with typical Portuguese cuisine.

As you stroll through Ferragudo, you will come across beautiful vistas and breathtaking views. For example, walk through the streets behind the fish restaurants, and you will be rewarded with stunning views of the river and Portimao. Ferragudo offers numerous photogenic vantage points not to be missed.

From the square, you can see the majestic church tower towering over everything from afar. It is well worth the climb up the steps to the "platform" of this church, because the view from there is simply breathtaking. Ferragudo will absolutely enchant you with its picturesque charm and unique atmosphere.

Stroll through the charming streets of Ferragudo and feel the gentle sea breeze

Praia Grande, a pristine jewel, is a short walk from the village. On the beach you will find cozy playgrounds and beach bars, where tempting smells of food greet you. The sound of gently breaking waves surrounds you, and in the distance you can see people enjoying yoga on the water. Ferragudo also offers Praia do Pintadinho and Praia dos Caneiros, two charming beaches full of activities. For a unique experience, take a boat trip down the Arade River to Silves and enjoy delicious grilled sardines at the restaurants. Discover the wonders of Ferragudo and its surroundings with walks along rugged cliffs, wooden walkways along Algar Seco, and vantage points over the ocean and caves in Carvoeiro.

Between Praia Grande and Praia da Angrinha is the Forte de São João do Arade. It is a photogenic spot on the beach and recognizable by the flag on top of the tower, indicating that the lord of the castle is home. It was also a location for the movie "The Escape. Step by step you will discover the wonders of Ferragudo and the surrounding area, including walks from Ferragudo to Carvoeiro with spectacular views. The road can be rough, so wear sturdy shoes. Carvoeiro offers a boardwalk walk along Algar Seco with wooden walkways to viewpoints over the ocean and caves.

Ferragudo, an ideal destination for workation or vacation, offers tranquility, adventurous activities and delicious food. Take trips to Portimao, Lagos, Monchique, Cabo de São Vicente and the Fortaleza fortress. Crossing the border into Spain is only 2.5 hours away, and Lisbon can be reached in 2 to 2.5 hours. Ferragudo is an unforgettable vacation destination with countless possibilities. Ferragudo and the surrounding villages offer a variety of restaurants, from traditional to fusion, from seafood to chicken piri-piri. Everything is fresh and of high quality.

Restaurants in Ferragudo

If you like a wide variety of dishes, Portugal is the place to be. Whether it is fish or meat, everything is prepared very tastefully and with love.

Ferragudu’s Terrace

For the best seafood, delicious wines and cocktails and top service. Also try a tasting menu, you'll be licking your fingers.

Borda do Cais

A cozy seafood restaurant with high quality fresh fish. The fish is grilled in front of you, filleted and served at your table. A unique experience.

O Velho Novo

a typical Portuguese restaurant run by the family. My advice: have the Bife á Portuguesa or Porco Preto here - delicious. Always make reservations as there are often lines at the door.

Sunsubiro / Fusion

The sunniest terrace in the square. Coffee, lunch, sushi, Asian food and tapas. Choice from a very varied menu and of course the sangria or a good glass of wine should not be missed.

Portarade

A very varied menu for lunch and dinner. Ranging from pizza to delicious meat and fish dishes. Good price - quality ratio. A large, lively and cozy terrace on 'the square'.

Bar Amigos

A great place for coffee, lunch, drinks and tapas. Locals and many tourists love the typical Dutch snacks on the menu.

Beira Mar

A cozy terrace for delicious coffee with a Licor Beirao or a cocktail. But also for a nice breakfast or lunch you are in the right place.

Farragood

Also a real Portuguese restaurant which is very popular. My favorite here is stuffed squid (lulas recheadas).

Praia Grande

Dinner or lunch overlooking the ocean. Typical Portuguese dishes but also "fusion" dishes.
